A professional with around 25 years of experience in Capital Market spanning India’s biggest Custodian to India’s biggest and largest Stock Exchange. The key roles have been setting up the depository by the regional stock exchange, developing derivatives and equity market and setting up SME and Start up Platform.

Mr. Ajay Thakur started the career way back in 1994 with Stock Holding Corporation Ltd as Senior Executive - Market operation. After that he joined Vadodara Stock Exchange as Senior Management Executive looking after various departments viz Market Operations, Bad Delivery Cell and Auction. He was also assigned with the role to set up depository by VSE Ltd.

He joined BSE Ltd in December, 1996 as Head – Arbitration and Business Development. He has developed the derivatives segment of BSE and also actively involved in opening of regional centers across the country. Presently as Head - BSE SME and Start up, responsible for the development of these segment of BSE. He had very successfully launched the SME Platform on 13th March, 2012 and thus BSE became the first Exchange to launch the SME Platform. In one of the annual issue of 2013, Asian Development Bank (ADB) has appreciated the effort of BSE SME for promoting SME listing in India. IOSCO also in its research report of July 2015 mentioned that BSE SME platform is the most cost effective platform for SME listing in the World. BSE SME has received SKOCH achiever award from the hands of Shri Jayant Sinha, Ministry of State for finance, also been awarded as the best SME exchange in India by Shri Kalraj Mishra, Union Cabinet Minister for MSME. Recently BSE SME has received an award from SP Jain Institute of Management and Research as CHANGE AGENT. Within 5 years span of time this platform has 280 companies listed and another 35 companies have filed their prospectus to get listed. Merchant Bankers have signed mandates with another 50 companies and they are doing the due diligence for filing the prospectus with BSE SME. These 280 companies listed represent 17 sectors which have raised an amount of Rs. 2805.10 crores and the market capitalization is Rs. 20,111.41 crores. The success of this platform has brought a lot of enthusiasm in the market with many more companies and market intermediaries are coming forward to get the companies listed on this platform.

He has also successfully launched the Start up platform on 22/12/2018. Around 5 Startups have singed the mandate to get the companies listed on Start up platform. Two Venture Funds Cornerstone and Venture Catalyst Funds have signed MOU with BSE to get their companies listed on Startup platform.
